Bike Test

In order to properly assure the correct function and stability of Audes new bike, we developed a couple of stress and performance tests based on our prior experience with bicycles. The first and certainly on of the toughest is the China Test.
Mostly lacking motorized vehicles, Chinese people have to rely on their bicycle to transport all kinds of stuff, like families, toilets, washing machines and aquariums. So we successfully transported our brand new (Aldi) trash bin on Audes bike. To make matters worse we filled it with rolls of toilet paper!!
After passing this first hurdle we did an acceptance test. Will the, sometimes rather snobbish, Munich Bavarians approve of the new bike being parked in the very heart of town on a Saturday and amid the numerous BMWs? To prevent damage by outraged local citizens I stayed the first 15 minutes close by, watching the scene. But the expected éclat failed to appear. So the answer is: Yes! The bike is suitable for Munich downtown use!!

The next step was a compatibility test with local traditions and more country like environments. So we went to the Englischer Garden with its rough gravel paths, Sunday strollers, charging dogs and beer gardens. As you can imagine, this was a tough one as well and more than once I believed Aude, the bike or that little squeaking dog lost. But somehow even here, probably the most perilous place in town, Aude and her bike stayed master of the scene and showed strong nerves.

All in all we can say that the bike is worth every penny and made for the big city and its wild enclaves. In order to make it suitable for crossing the alps we plan to invest in a rear basket ;-)
